  • When Montana Medicaid wasn’t following Medicare guidelines and paying for CPAP supplies during the capped rental period, BSAMES got Montana Medicaid to change their policy allowing your company to be reimbursed for CPAP supplies.
  • When a selective contracting program was proposed for various DME items in the Idaho Medicaid program, eliminating 99% of Idaho Medicaid providers for those items, BSAMES got it stopped.
  • When Medicare competitive bidding threatened a 26.5 % cut in reimbursement rates and the elimination of more than 80% of providers from the Medicare program, BSAMES was a leader in a successful national effort to delay the program.
  • BSAMES continues as one of the leading state associations in national efforts to repeal competitive bidding, rehabilitate the image of the HME industry, overhaul Medicare medical documentation requirements and to reform the Medicare oxygen benefit.
  • Members of BSAMES have been named and served prominent roles on national efforts to reform DME such as the New Oxygen Coalition, formed by AAHomecare. BSAMES is also one of the leading state association members of the Committee to Save Independent HME Suppliers (CSIHME). Mike Calcaterra, BSAMES Legislative Chairman, serves in the leadership of CSIHME as one of eight members of the CSIHME Legislative Activity Board.
